Ray Yoshinaga - Worship
& Prayer Director
As
a child, Ray always loved music and the different types of music
really shaped him as he grew older. Ray accepted the Lord in the
early '70's right toward the end of the "Jesus Movement."
It was at this time that he attended a weekly meeting at this place
called the "Fish". It was a Christian drop-in center for
youths where worship and the teaching of the Word were the highlights.
The thing he remembered most was the songs that were sung. It really
captured him and he really got "hooked" on Jesus, because
of the worship.
Ray started to attend Union Church in Los Angeles
and led worship for the youth group. This led to other times to
lead worship for JEMS Retreats and conferences. As he started his
journey with the Lord, worship was a key to Ray's growth as a Christian.
God brought healing and intimacy as he worshipped Him.
Ray came to Cerritos Baptist in 1989 and helped
with the worship team after his first month there. About six months
later, Ray was asked to lead the worship at CBC. He led as a lay
leader until in 1999, then became an intern, went part time and
later full time. As Ray grew in worship, prayer became an important
part of his life. He saw the connection between worship and prayer
and how they worked hand in hand. Through prayer, Ray's personal
worship as well as his leading really grew.
Ray has a great family, a wonderful wife Charlotte
and two super kids, Nikki and Mikey. Ray enjoys music, reading,
sports and most of all eating! Thanks God for your goodness to us
and all your children. We do worship an awesome God!!!
